Founded on August 13, 1922 by the medical doctor Juan Nogales Martinez Real Jaén Club de Fútbol, S.A.D. is a Spanish football team based in Jaén, in the autonomous community of Andalusia. On 12 June 1929 the team was reconstituted under the name of Olympic Company Jiennense, appearing in Third Regional team, along with other teams in the provinces of Cordoba and Jaen. On April 12, 1931 , after beating Nacional de Córdoba, the Olympic amounted to First Regional. The uniform of the team at that time consisted of red camisole and blue pants. On July 5, 1939, after the civil war, the red is abandoned by the original white clothing. After the death of Juan Nogales, Diego Infante got the presidency and that same year the club would be awarded South Fed Cup by beating San Andrés for 1-4.
In the 1942-1943 season, the team access for the first time to national category, to the Spanish Third Division. On September 5, 1947, the Spanish Football Federation authorized the name Real Jaen, replacing the Olympic Jiennense, and the white is definitely established for the first dress team.
In the early 50s the club reaches its greatest sporting glories, winning in 1952 the Football Federation Cup and militating three seasons in the Spanish Primera Division football (1953-1954, 1956-1957, 1957-1958), after a double consecutive ascent from Third Division to First one.
Again descended, he stood in a long journey of ups and downs between Third and Second, where he returned in the late 90s, which provided new impetus sporting accompanied by the euphoric resurgence of the fans. But unable to consolidate in the category, descends to Second Division B, where he remained with mixed fortune to the new promotion to the League in the 2012/13 season.
In the 2008/09 season was proclaimed for the second time in its history, the champion of the Football Federation Cup defeating in the end to Rayo Vallecano B and played the promotion to 2nd Division, being defeated by Villarreal B in the last round. In the summer of 2010, the Real Jaen started to have financial problems and after three difficult years, on March 21, 2013 the club was finally saved from bankruptcy and got saved in all aspects, thus sowing the start of a new Real Jaen. Currently, the team competes in Group IV of the Second Division B.
Real Jaén players wear a white shirt with purple strips and white shorts. Away uniform is completely purple with white strips.
